Ordering Clearview Windshield. W or W/O Vent?
I don't recall seeing mention a vented aftermarket windshield. Anyone have experience with one on an EG?
The stock shield on my EG was 12" and the top was right in my line of site when riding. I don't recall much buffeting but their was some negative pressure which tried to push my head forward. So I cut it down to 10.5". That created a nasty resonance/buffeting. Its now down to 8.5", the back pressure is gone and the buffeting is better but still there. I will likely cut it down 1" more to see what happens.
Looking a Clearview's recurve got me thinking. They *claim* it moves the pocket up 1.5-2" so a 10.5" recurve (still below my line of sight) could offer the protection of the stock height. So thats what I just ordered. Now I'm thinking their optional vent may be useful in minimizing the back pressure, as well as more air in the summer.

I have the vent and can't tell a nickels difference in the venting with it open or closed. I wouldn't get it again if I were to do it over. On the Goldwing the vent makes a difference but on my RG I couldn't tell anything different. Just my opinion.

I have the vent, on my RG.... but the RG/EG setups are SO different, it isn't worth comparing... that being said, I have a vent because i bought a BLEM that had the vent... I doubt I'd pay extra for the vent, if I was to order a shield....

Another with a VENT on a ROAD GLIDE, makes no difference open or closed on this BIKE.. Like LEE on my Goldwing, it worked well, IT IS A GOLD WING Vent by the way.

Well, I rode a Goldwing for 6 years with the vent and I couldn't tell whether it made much difference or not. That is, I couldn't feel any airflow coming through it unless I put my hand right in front of it while riding down the road. I don't think it hurts anything and I like to think it does help reduce the low pressure area that develops behind the fairing but my experience suggests that it's not something you'll actually feel. YMMV!

Thanks for the replys, it sounds like it works for some. Tima, just curious how the top of the shield intersects with your line of vision looking down the road? The 12" (I assume) is the same height as the stock shield?
