With the current state of the economic scene, we are already seeing a heavier enforcement of vehicle infractions and new codes. Wonder if this is the year that we are the objects of a 'noise pollution war'.

I live in a no-hat's required state. I wear one anyhow. I think helmet laws suck.

So, following that theory, should health insurance companies deny lung cancer victims coverage if they smoke?

If you ride into a state that requires a helmet you need to wear one.
I understand this quite well. What I was questioning was the fact the state you came from didn't require it no does the state you are going to, which in this case is South Carolina. However, now the city of MB does? Sounds like a revenue booster to me.
Federal and State laws do have rules and they might not be allowed to have city and county laws that are stricter than State law. I have delt with this in the past with pesticide laws, counties and towns can not have stricter laws than the State.
If you think about it it makes sense, you can't be expected to drive down the road and know when to take your helmet off and when to put it on. Most things are controlled by fed. and State, Little Joe Mayor can't make his own laws in most cases, it will be interesting to see if this is challenged.
SHould be a fun one to watch...But just the same, no matter what teh end result might be, Myrtle Beach has forever lost alot of folks due to thier stupidity. I'll go where I am welcome, where folks want me to come and spend money, where folks treat me like a neighbor. MB lost the ability to do that.
Correct me if I am wrong, But what I heard, was that all of the new "anti-motorcycle" laws down there were created because of the problems with the groups that came to town AFTER the normal bike week ended. Had MB enforced laws on the books, they wouldn't have those problems. Would that have effected Bike week...perhaps to some extent, but on the other hand, The Black Bike Week would have ended long ago, along with the problems it brings.

I think you are correct, the local merchants hate Black Bike Week, more than one have told me MB even passed a law that they can't close for that week, they love all us old HD guys with money. Still not going again, it will be Laconia.

That doesn't sound like it's legal to me. Since it's only $100, I'd be willing to ride into town and challenge it for you.
