Default Gettysburg Bike Week

Hello:
Has anyone gone to Gettysburg Bike Week? What's it like?

I'm trying to plan out a trip to Gettysburg this year.

I'm a little worried about riding my 30 year old bike that far. and something going wrong and getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. I was thinking of towing it to Lancaster PA and then riding to and from the event.

What is rt30 like? Will I be able to find motels along the way or will I have to book a place in advance?
Thanks

I like GBBW but its not a huge event. I am about 45 mins away, and usually ride up for a day.

I've been several times and it is a good time, some real nice riding and 1 heck of a party and they rent the fair grounds for the vendors.

GBBW is a nice event. There are several hotels close by. Rt. 30 east of Gettysburg is very rough with construction. Make sure you stop in at Battlefield HD they are great people.

Rt.30 is 4 lane highway for the most part from Lancaster to York, after York it is 2 lane. Traffic can be heavy around Lancaster and York.

Plenty of Hotels all around. The + on Rt.30 is it takes you right bye the york plant. I'd atleast check out the museum!

GBBW is kind of small, but still nice to attend. There are a plethora of motels in the area so you won't have to worry about that. As mark g said, Rte. 30 takes you right by the HD plant. Stop in and check it out. The riding around Gettysburg is just plain awesome!

We live about 40 mi. North of Gettysburg and we ridw down that way quite a bit! Beautiful back roads and sights.

Ride safe and keep the rubber side down

Plan your time around the events. If you miss the event that's it. They do must of there real events back to back on one day like saturday. Most of the other show/event are on one time deal. Last year it was crazy hot outside and very little shade. If you go to myspace site there 150 photo from my Gettyburg Bike Week. I all ways go to have funny and see the venders stuff.
