Default Anyone tried one of these Jockey shifters?

Just came across this on ebay. You do not need a foot clutch as the lever is on the jockey shift. Has anyone used one of these. I would love one but am reluctant to get something like this until I have either tried one or heard from someone who has one.

I want to make sure I understand this correctly. The clutch on this one is part of the sifter where the lever is so there is no need for a foot clutch. Is this correct?

Read an article by Fab Kevin in The Horse a couple months back where he explained why these are such a bad idea and only for non-ridden bikes. Picture how it would be making a left/right turn from a stop when you only have your right hand on the bars.

Yes. You buy the clutch cable from the company, attach is to the clutch lever and route it to the right side where your current clutch cable goes. Squeeze the clutch lever on the jockey shifter and change gears.

That's what I'm seeing. I'd be a bit concerned about this though....
We want to stress the fact that this is sold as a show part only and is not D.O.T. approved. This shifter is supported by the transmission shaft. These are for show use only .
I'm not sure that having that much weight bearing down on the transmission bits is a good thing, but I don't know.

I am noat concerned about the turns, although maybe I should be. It is just a glimmer of hope off in the horizon right now anyway. Anyone else?

I love the looks of jockey shift, but a pain in the *** for riding. I tried it once, and found it to be too much work.

I rode a bike my brother-in-law put together a few years ago. It had a jockey shift on it but the clutch was operated by your left foot. It was a really good idea to get into neutral before coming to a stop on that bike... I also like the way they *look* but they're not very practical and no way can they be as safe as a conventional setup.

Looks interesting...
as was stated earlier turning might be an issue...

is there a reason you don't want a foot clutch?
