I have ISO grips with Throttle Boss and found out by accident that the gas caps rests nicely on the throttle boss/grip.
The best way to determine the best spot to keep a gas cap dring fueling is to leave one on the pump by mistake and realize it the next time you go to fill up. Your next stop is auto parts store or a dealer.
Dont ask me how I know this.
Mine is always upside down resting on the throttle boss.

Upside down on the floorboard. I alway fuel my bike from the left side, so it always goes on the floorboard. Tried the top of the pump one time, and left my cap there, so learned my lession on that one. My friend always puts it on his seat, and you can see the permanent stain markings by doing so. When I bought my new seat, he begged me to give him my old seat.
Believe it or not, I was at a gas station in Kernville, CA and found a Harley gas cap on top of the pump. Now I have a spare!

Don't have to worry about this any more. Got a flip top cap based on an old 60's monza race car. I'll try to post a pic later, but it's very cool and convenient.
