Soak with spray of water, then wash with mild soap using a microfiber rag. Dry with microfiber towel. Wipe down with Protec all. No scratches in 4 years. Bugs come off with just water spray. My windshield still looks new with no swirls.

I have been told not to use anything with ammonia because it will eventually make the windshield have a fogged look. The windshields are basically plastic/plexiglass and should only be cleaned with non ammonia products. Warm water or towel to melt off the bugs etc, then a plastic shine product.

I bought the Harley Bug Remover 2 years ago ($6.95) and still have enough for a couple more years. That stuff is great, spray about 4 squirts on the windshield and clean it with a clean cotton cloth, bugs wipe right off, even after the guts are fried on for a week.

soak an old t shirt slide it over windshield for 10 min. Wipe with microfiber then spray with pledge and apply with another microfiber. I use the cheap terrycloth lookin micro cloths for this instead of the polishing ones. It works fine.

Yeah, that HD stuff works real well. Works good for helmets, too.

I go through about two bottles per summer, between my wife and I.

Plastic spray bottle with water in it, and paper towels. If it gets so scratched I can't stand it, I'll get another windshield. (hasn't yet)
