O.k. Guys, I'm in need of some assistance. I just bought a 2009 Rocker-C. I have been riding since it was delivered this past Friday morning. But now, I started wondering....how do I clean this beauty... When i got it it was all polished and gleaming, but i'm sure it won't be looking like that for ever without a good wash.
1) What types of products should I use on the bike? Is there specific soaps/clothes/ect.... that I should use?
2) How often do you clean your bike?
3) What do you use to polish the chrome?
4) Is it o.k. to just hose the whole thing down or are there areas to stay away from?
5) How often should someone lube the bike?
Any assistance you all could provide would be greatly appriciated, because at this point i'm clueless....

I use S100 bike cleaner on the whole thing. It seems to work well for me and I think its actually recommended by harley in the manual. I always wash it when the bike is cool and spray in all over. I don't polish the bike so I can't help you on that one. I'm pretty bad a washing it but I'd rather spend my time riding then washing. I probably do it once a month unless it gets nasty from a ride. I use those microfiber towels to dry it off. They don't scratch the paint and they absorb well. I just follow the manual for maintenance requirements. hope that helps...enjoy your ride!
I ride everyday, even when raining and in Winter.
I wash my bike every 2 or 3 weeks only.
If the bike is not too dirty I use Harley Spray on the dry bike.
Or I wash it with water (I use Harley Wheel & Tire Cleaner for wheels) and then dry it and use Harley Gloss for finishing.
I also 2 microfiber towels to dry and finish the work.
Even after riding 2/3 weeks, the bike looks clean and brilliant.
Hope that helps.
Johd

Read your owners manual. It has loads of useful information.
Then go to your dealer and buy a Harley® Care Starter Kit. Part # 94671-99A After trying the products out, I bought the big bottles for use at home and refill the sample bottles and pack the in my bags for when I'm out on a trip. So then I can clean the bike if needed.
As mentioned, S100 is a good soap product for washing the bike. My bike is carbed so I can't tell you about fuel injection, but I spray the hell out of it with no concern as to what gets wet - never had a problem. You can wax with any quality car wax. I also use a cool product that I got from my local HD dealership for the engine. It's called Blackout by clean cycle. I just took a look at the bottle. Website is cleancycle.com.
Anyway, it comes with a couple sponge paintbrushes and you paint the black powdercoat with it. Makes it look better than new. This is good for when you have a lot of time to hang out in your garage with the music on and a few beers. It takes some time to get through it all.
Polish until your hands bleed. Ride in the rain for a wash. Change the oil when it gets black. Or go by the owners manual. Pledge works well. Wash it if it gets dirty. But don't get it wet.
