Default Overheating on 96" engines?

I'm buying a 2010 or 2011 Street Glide with the 96" motor when I get back from Iraq. I've heard the tales of the Motor Company leaning out the engines in order to meet the EPA standards of today. In doing so, the engines are over heating.....so I've heard. I already have plans for the intake, exhaust, cams and remapping. Has anyone out there found a perminant fix for the over heating issue?

Thanks in advance,

Its true they due run hot but don't be concerned about over heating. I sat in traffic (stop & go) fore the better part of a hour at 105 plus with my bike running. The only thing over heating was me. The bike never missed a beat I don't now what temp it reached but I can't think of a more extreme condition.

As stated above, they do tend to run hot.

I might suggest you look into a tuner first (maybe the TTS), break in the motor, then add the other things later. The TTS can be remapped to adjust for the mods you have in mind without difficultly and that seems to be the most effective "fix" for the heating issues.

Good luck!

Easiest and cheapest thing on a near stock bike is to add a couple of the IED devices to the O2 sensors. That richens up the idle/cruise mixtures and cools the engine off. Lots of people use them and they work.

IEDs don't work on 09-10 models.

My 2010 RK runs cooler than my 07 Superglide.

8000 miles, no mods yet. No problem with heat at all.

Don't believe everything you read. I have yet to hear or read of one "overheating".

I have an '03 carbed bike and dropped my operating temps significantly by switching to Amsoil. Bike was running around 225-230 and now it stays just below or just above 200. The drop is due to reduced friction, I think you also pick up some HP. As an added benefit it is quieter.
