Man when I think Harley, biker, outlaw etc these two are exactly what come to mind. Not some crazy *** chopper. These are the bikes I picture rolling down the road with the dude with the ponytail and beard and his old lady on the back. I'd love to get either one of them.

WASH those cylinder walls DOWN !!!!!! Sorta like hangin' a coffee can on there, with a hose running into the cylnders.

A fella really doesn't notice THAT, until you ride behind one. THEN you can "smell" the gas !!!!
IMFUO, one of the MAJOR reasons, for redoing topends, so much, on 'em.

To me the outstanding collectables would be the 1971 FX, 1978 FXS Lowrider, 1980 FXB Sturgis, 1980 FXWG Wideglide. Also was partial to my 1981 FXS (sig picture)...

To me the bikes we've discussed have to be all original and stock to have any value. Like the 1978 FXS...I am sure a original stock one would go for more than one modified. The 1978 was the first year of the lowrider and when it came out, I went "Wow!". Loved the low look and drag bars with the grey paint and red tank logo...wasn't too enamored with the 2-1 exhaust at the time.

The 1981-1982 FXS's were different than the 1978-1980 years. This was because the NEW HARLEY (AMF now gone) started mixing/matching parts laying around on their bikes to get rid of inventory I guess getting ready to roll out the EVO if I remember.

IF I could only have one Shovelhead...it would be the 1980 FXWG. A Navy buddy of mine on my submarine at the time bought one. I always told him if he ever sold it, I wanted first dibs on it...he still owns it and it is mostly still stock.

I sold my 1981 FXS a couple of years ago to a collector in Japan. Now I wish I hadn't... I was not riding it much as I had my Fatboy at the time and to me old iron should be ridden not hidden...

Aint a shovelhead in the world worth more tha 5 grand in my book. I do have a 66 fl basket case that's been in pieces for about 25 years. It's been in my buddies garage in SD for years. Gotta put it together someday. Workin' on my old 65 XLCH right now.
