Default New Red Wing Boots for Riding - Having Buyers Remorse

I recently retired a pair of Dr Martens that I've has since 1999. They were great for riding too. I went this afternoon to replace them and found that all their boots (excluding the vintage selection) are MADE IN CHINA. I just knew there was no way that a pair of Chinese Dr Martens would last another 10 years. I know that many of you here wear Redwings. So I headed on down to the local RW store and left with a pair of RedWing 608's I also got some high arch insoles with everything totaling ~$250.

I prefer to go with what I know, but now the Doc's are Chinese I knew that's not what I wanted. So, for those of you with RW Boots, any comments on the 608's? Did I make a good choice?

I bought a set of RW side zipper combat boots for riding when none of the other stores in my area had anything that came close to fitting comfortably. I have had these boots for over a year and are only getting more comfortable every time I wear them. The only problem I've had with them is the dog chewed up one of the laces, but I can't fault RW for that one. Enjoy your new boots.

How HIGH of a boot are they around your ankles?
I rode a Metric back in November for my Beginner class, and my 8", 8-year-old RW work boots worked just fine for me.
I have replacement 10" boots that I got about 9 months ago, but have not ridden with them yet.
BTW, if you go back to RW and tell them your laces are chewed up, they SHOULD give you a replacement set for free. I had to do that back in May of last year.

Good comfortable boots.

I have a pair of the RW harness MC boots...don't remember their item number. Worn for two years, and very comfortable for riding throughout the day. Only issue I had was getting someplace and having to walk in them for hours...not comfortable then. Just throw on the sneakers if I have to do a lot of walking.

Why not purchase a pair of vintage 1460 Dr Martens made in England for 180 dollars. I have these boots and they are well made.

for the money, my H&H Jump boots with zippers installed work great, lots of support not only for the feet, but ankles too!

Wow, Doc Martins are now made in China? There's gonna be a lot of pissed-off skinheads!!! They'll have to wear flip-flops now!
