Default 1977 FLH Low Rider

I'm new to this forum and may become a permanent member if everything works out well. I have been wanting a Harley, but $$$ has been an issue. I just ran into a guy who offered a trade for a 1977 Harley FLH low Rider for a 71 Duster I am restoring. It has the 1200cc engine that has been modified to 1340cc. The engine has 900 miles on a rebuild (31k original miles) and the paint and everything else appears to be in very good condition. Can anyone tell me a conservative value of a bike like this to ensure I am not getting taken on this deal? I attached a picture. Thanks.

A low rider is a FXS not a FLH. I am not rying to flame you. But if the owner calls it a FLH lowrider. I would check what the tittle says and check the numbers. A FLH has the Fat 16 inch tire and bigger fork tubes a Lowrider will have a 19 inch front tire. A 77 is a shovel head not that is a bad thing but in 33 years a lot has changed. I would look for a cheap Evo ( Evolution) bike. I think it will be less trouble. I had a 1978 low rider as my first bike. As far as worth? I am not sure go to the Shovel head page they would be more familiar. Good luck.

Welcome to the forums 440, a straight out trade no cash boot, is that the deal?, tell us a bit about the Duster.

Hey ease down a bit 49 nothing wrong with the guy asking questions, he's saying if he trades he might become a regular member or at least I think that's what he's saying, I'm sure someone here can give him a fairly close price to what the 1200 is worth.

Here's a box stock '77 FLH - for reference

All there, runs decent, paint good (not perfect, jus' good) -
Low end - 'round 4g. Upper end - 6500, maybe 7.

There are 3 decent Shovel FXs on CL up here. Last one, with A LOT of work done to it.
Give 'em a look, and then YOU will have to make the comparisons.

That's up here. Your results may vary, some assembly required, batteries INCLUDED !!!.

BTW, I ride a pan and a shovel, jus' so ya know.

Thanks for the info. The duster is a 71 340 numbers matching. Nice collector, but in mid restoration and all cut up. I was looking to get 3500 for the car. Probably worth well more than that, just what I was selling it for quick. I get the idea that this bike is probably worth $3500, so will probably have a deal.

if it turns over and has a title, id say it is a great deal.... it looks like its there but make sure it has a s&s carb, and a dyna s ignition on it it will be reliable as anything else.. my 72 is as good as my 01, it just leaks a little and rides a little rougher

That is a sweet lookin shovel. If it runs as good as it looks in the picture I'd jump on it. shovels require much more attention then the new ones but are a fairly simple motor and with a manual and some mechanical aptitude (which it appears you have IE: the Duster) you should be fine with it.
