Just for giggles and grins I did a search on google maps for Messa Az.

Found the following at the below link.

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&...90551&t=h&z=14

The Exit sign on Hwy 40 say's Proving Ground Rd. so I'm thinking it may be the test track.

I'm sure you will run across that add again in the near future...I assure you they will be looking for another applicant. It is not a Sunday cruise position. I see it every year...this time it looks like they are using a different hiring agency. Mostly experienced Dealer Techs make the cut...but don't last very long.

AZ. has/had lots of proving grounds here. GM was here, Caterpillar has come and gone, Nissan, VW. Can you think of a better climate/location to subject preproduction vehicles to extreme conditions. The HOT weather speeds up the durability testing process. Why drive a prototype in 70 degree weather for 6 years when you can run the vehicle non stop in extreme conditions and get the data sooner. Proving grounds are secure locations and you will not exit the highway and end up in anyones proving ground. They don't have big signs out front that announce what is going on behind the fences, gates, hedge rows, berms and barriers. You WILL find a security checkpoint and gate at the only entry/exit though. I know of one proving ground that wanted to relocate due to urban encroachment from the housing boom out here a few yers ago. They like to be in desolate areas. Magazine editors try to breach the security of these places to get those coveted "spy photos". The vehicles are disguised to keep everything under wraps....I would imagine any bikes being tested will not look like much and are probably ugly ducklings.

I have known twol guys who worked at the Mesa grounds. They both hated it. They said that for every hour they rode, they had to do about 3 hours of paperwork, and the last thing they wanted to do when they got off work was ride a motorcycle. They both quit after a year. I myself applied last year and never got a call back, oh well, at least I can still look forward to my ride home from the job that did hire me.

talked with a guy at the rental counter at buddy stubbs in AZ who claimed to be a former test rider in Mesa. Told me the pay was low and the job was pretty boring..

I think I could do it for a little while, but I guess after 25,000 miles on the same track could become a downer.
