GPS that actually follows a route I input
I have a Garmin Nuvi 255. For my trip routing I use Microsoft's 2010 Street & Trips Planner. After loading the route from Street & Trips planner to my GPS I cannot find it on the GPS. There is no "route" button or anything like that. I guess this model is not designed to do that or I am doing something wrong.
Does your Model GPS accept and follow routes you input? If it does, what is your brand and model?
Tks...

It depends on the GPS model. The last time I looked, the Garmin Nuvi doesn't allow route storage until you get into the 270 series.
If you want to be able to do route planning with your GPS you need to look at the technical specs for the unit. In the spec section there will be a listing for "ROUTES" followed by a number that indicates how many planned routes the unit is capable of storing at one time.
Units that don't support Route planning will show "Routes = 0".
Units that do support route planning will show something like "Routes = 10" or "Routes = 50".

I hit the "where to" button on my nuvi, then favorites. The location is always there. The nuvi uses it's own route to get there, but the location comes from streets and trips.
Yoc can still add all the other stops from your route, but you have to tell your nuvi to add as "way points". It will navigate to everyone in order of proximity.

Based on the specs listed on the Garmin site, your Nuvi 255 will does not support routes. As a work around, you can identify routing points that will force navigation along the route you want and load them as waypoints. These are the PONI's (points of no interest) that you used to make Streets & Trips develop your route. Easiest way to accomplish this might be to compile them as waypoints in a POI (point of interest) file. Number them 1 through whatever and you are on your way.
