This Article is very good.

Not sure that I buy every word, but it is very compelling.

What do you think.

Many autos today have had cam issues due to the lack of zinc no longer being added at past levels.I always add EOS to my cars anymore. And yes HD oil is considered a semi synthetic. What did article say?Worthless, esp for the price.

Good stuff, but some outdated info. FWIW, Group III oils are legally considered synthetic, whether this author, or anyone else thinks so. HD oil is a Group III, and is thus a synthetic oil. HD oil overpriced? (LOL, what do we always say HD means? Hunnert dollar!) Yep, along with a lot of their other stuff, it's overpriced.
HD oil, all of it, is made by Citgo.
15w-40 diesel oil is a great oil. It ain't for an HD, especially a hot-running Twinkie, in the summertime. That 40 viscosity will shear to a 30 before you get halfway to work. HD says to use the diesel oil for a short time until you can get some of the correct grade. But, if'n it's cool weather, I'd run it in a heartbeat.

http://www.dvgibson.com/ PoleCat check this out. I've used both auto and aircraft in my T-Sport. I have a quart of aircraft oil in it now. The aircraft oil is for 1000 h.p. air cooled engines, however it's $48.00 per quart. If you get a chance to check it out, let us know what you think.

A down side of the Rotella T is that it has enough ash in it to cause me concern about deposits on the plugs and combustion chamber, however I do use it in my diesel. I think it is a great oil in the right application. I'd use it if I absolutely needed oil in my scooter.

I'm surprised I didn't see any reference to Royal Purple.

Shell Ro-smella is all I run in my Cummins. I just switched from the regular dino Shell to the synthetic and it seems to run/idle smoother. Maybe it's just in my head to justify the increase cost of the synthetic. Either way, that's all I use in my truck and this is the 2nd Cummins I owned with no (knock on wooden head) engine problems. The smell lets you know it's working!
