Keep in mind the SE kit isn't a complete cure for the problem as the chains cause the premature wear on some tenioners and the kit only surplies a new roller chain on the outer one, the inside tenioner keeps the original chain, although the hydraulics put less pressure on the shoes.

I changed to an S&S setup with Andrews conversion cams which changes the chains to the 08, and up spec which are roller chains for the cams.

MAY I ADD HERE THAT THE TIMING CHAIN IS UNLIKE THE ROLLER CHAIN IN THE PRIMARY. ONCE THE PRIMARY DRIVE CHAIN GETS DOWN TO THE CHAIN ROLLERS ON THE TENSIONER, THE TENSIONER THERE WILL PROBABLY NEVER WEAR OUT SINCE THE CHAIN IS ROLLING ON IT. NOT SURE WHY HARLEY DID NOT PUT A ROLLER CHAIN THE ON CAM SHAFT SPROKETS? I HAVE SEEN MUCH SMALLER ROLLER CHAINS

I'm thinking of going this route. Just to be clear, you used the S&S support plate with the Andrews cams? The "conversion cams" have the older, smaller, outer bearings correct?

What cams did you go with? Any comments?

Thanks

On my 2000 EG I changed them and lifters at 52000 and they were about 1/2 worn. Put stock shoes back in and this set about 70,000.(120,000 on bike) I will be taking it apart around Christmas and probably putting stock shoes and lifters in. I know there will be no gear drive, maybe an oil pump

So what are TV he best lifters for stock build.
