Default Ohio reflector laws...

Just curious if anyone knows the laws in Ohio for having reflectors on motorcycles. I really want to strip them off of my Nightster, but really don't want to be stripped of my cash if I were to get a ticket. Being an all black bike, it would be pretty noticeable if they were missing. Thanks!

They are required and Yes you will get a ticket if the LEO wants to be a ***** about it. People will argue this but it is required.

Bummer...I'll have to see if I can find something that is "smoked" so it blends in better. I really hate the front ones on the black forks, but also don't need a ticket. We have a few departments around here that would give their own mothers tickets. Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately the AMA website does not have the answer. It also does not address modulated brake lights. So we are left wondering. Good try though.

4513.06 Red reflectors required.
(A) Every new motor vehicle sold after September 6, 1941, and operated on a highway, other than a commercial tractor, to which a trailer or semitrailer is attached shall carry at the rear, either as a part of the tail lamps or separately, two red reflectors meeting the requirements of this section, except that vehicles of the type mentioned in section 4513.07 of the Revised Code shall be equipped with reflectors as required by the regulations provided for in said section.

Every such reflector shall be of such size and characteristics and so maintained as to be visible at night from all distances within three hundred feet to fifty feet from such vehicle.

(B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.

Amended by 128th General Assembly File No. 9, HB 1, § 101.01, eff. 10/16/2009.

Taken directly form Ohio.govs statutes. So amber fronts NO, red rears YES.

The more you know!

http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...e-tape-kit.htm

this gives a before/after of the black tape I'm talking about - basically 'invisible' if applied to black surfaces but shines bright white when lit up at night.
