Default Slip Ons or Full Exhaust?

I want to install a set of Vance & Hines soon on my 09 Fatboy. Plan on the high flow permanent filter and remap the fuel. My big question is;

Slip On or full exhaust change. The slip ons are a much cheaper route and easier install. I could easily do the slip ons and the air filter and save the dealer charges and then have them remap the EFI. I am looking at the Big Shots staggered. Is there a noticeable difference in sound or performance between the slipons and full exhaust?

Full exhaust,if you're after power, definitely a 2 into 1 setup.it isn't hard to change exhaust,and you can do that at home if you can do slip ons.there is definitely a difference going to a full exhaust swap.

I agree.You are not going to see much of a performance gain with slip-ons.If your looking for performance,go with full exhaust and breather upgrade.

i didnt think you needed any reprogramming just for exhaust - thats only needed for change to the intake?

sry prospect but if you put any full after market exhaust on you need to remap or rejet. then if later you change your air cleaner you need to remap or rejet.

however if you just put slip on piepes on you can sometimes get away with out rejet or map.

also most people dont understand the advantage of getting your bike dyno tuned. even if you leave the stock exhaust and intake on. a power commander v and a dyno tune can get you like 6 more hp. and way better fuel econmey.

I had V&H Oval siipons for 3 years with my stock headers. When I went to the 95" last year I dumped the stock headers for V&H true duals. Glad I did, love this setup.

Actually, slip-on's will make more power than the vast majority of full exhaust systems, since most aftermarket systems are designed for looks and deafening sound rather than power. The stock Harley headers are perfectly fine and they are the right diameter for the engine. Slip-on's from a good company, like Cycle Shack, make great torque and power, whereas most of the "shots", etc., are too long or too short or just plain too odd to get the exhaust out in an efficient manner.

I hate the look of all HD stock exhausts and slip on's keep that look so I say full system. Do it right the first time.
