Default Motorcycle or rider mounted camcorders

I've watched some pretty neat videos of motorcycles in action (though the audio was not good - probably from the high wind speed), and wondered about how the cameras mounted to the bike or rider. Does anyone have information or better yet, have you done this? What do these cost? I think I'd enjoy watching some videos of the countryside I've ridden through, especially if I could capture part of the bike in them.

www.gopro.com

Depends on the model, best one is $299 I believe. Cheapest one is $179, have seen them cheaper on Ebay.

Grizz - The GoPro cameras come with a head strap, and a few other tape mounts. You can either use the head strap over the helmet or you can stick a mount on it and yes they do come off fairly easy. You can mount them on the bars, saddlebag mount...anyplace you find room really.

They also come with two back plates. Snap on or off easy. One is meant for underwater or speeds over 100. The other one works well in dry conditions and speeds under 100. Wind noise from mine I found out was coming from the clasp that keeps the case closed. It was due to the angle I had it. I adjusted the angle just enough and no more wind noise.

There are a lot of accessories you can buy as well. If you want 1080p it will run an extra hundred.

Be careful. I believe there was a guy charged with a serious felony when his helmet cam unintentionally captured video of a traffic stop in the People's Communist Republic of Maryland.

I use my regular camcorder on a RAM mount. I love my RAM mount. I generally use it for GPS, but it accepts different adapters or whatever for a camera, GPS, Ipod…. You name it pretty much.

The video is not perfect and the sound is rough, but makes nice memories. I have several on my Youtube channel.

It’s worth the money in my opinion – not that they are expensive. I’ve seen people try to go cheap though and I wouldn’t chance a camcorder/GPS to anything less.
