I paid $80 to have mine(Street Glide) done at the local dealer before winter storage. Actually they charge $20/hr. Mine was covered with bugs pretty good. The detail guy did a excellent job.

I'll probably get flamed for paying to have it done and not doing it myself.

Default Had mine detailed yesterday at my local HD dealership.

I hadn't' washed my bike since before winter season last year, it was a horrible mess. Called up my local HD dealership and asked how much they charged. He said "just bring it on in, maybe tip the washer". They did a FANTASTIC job, even if it took them about 2 hours to get to it (they were backed up)! I left my Street Glide with them along with my number. Got the call when ready, went to pick it up and I was amazed. I tipped the washer with everything in my pocket at the time-about $16 or $17 bucks. I hope that was enough. I thought it was at the time but hearing that there's a place charging $80, I'm beginning to think I should have tipped more.

They waxed it, and polished the chrome. It looked like it was ready for the showroom floor

Default Not sure if they went that far or not.

In my case, I can't say if they did or not since I wasn't there to watch them. Seems like they put some of wax on it but I would guess it was just a spray of some kind. There was some kind of slick overspray that I found on some harder to reach chrome so I'm guessing that's what it was. I just wiped that off with a towel. When I had brought the bike to them it was covered in road grit and what I call "asphalt mud'. When I picked up the bike, none of the mess was there, the bugs were off the fairing and it gleamed. I looked for new scratching (my bike is an 07 StreetGlide) but didn't notice any. Seemed like it had some less, in fact. Except for a bit of overspray with the finish, the bike looked virtually new again so I was sufficiently happy.

Found a guy on Craigslist and looked over some bikes he was currently working on and was pleased with those. He charged me $50 and I was happy with what he did.

97° here in Las Vegas. Yesterday I paid $25 for five cheerleaders in bikinis to detail my bike for a school fundraiser. I tipped them each $10 and the bike has never been happier
