Mine went out at around 25,000. First sign was oil on the kickstand. No noise, but shifting felt a little rough. Tranny was pretty much completely rebuilt under warranty. Bearing was on back-order for about a week

Talking about the bearing behind the clutch basket and set into the inner? If so, mine (in an '07 FLHR - now traded in) went at 30,000 miles and MOCO seems to agree... lots of failures. Probably why they redesigned and updated that bearing.

Mine went bad at 23,000. It began to make a low growling sound that stopped when I dropped it into gear or held the clutch long enough for the basket to stop spinning.

My clutch hub bearing was replaced a couple of weeks ago...that's not the one you're talking about though right?

I've had the shaft and bearings replaced once, some more bearings a second time and the primary bearing once. Thank God for ESP. My dealer said they had seen it before.

The one I'm talking about is the bearing that supports the transmission output shaft but is actually fitted into the inner primary, not the tranny itself. It's not part of the clutch basket though. I'm wondering if this one is the one OP is asking about. You too?

Not sure if this is the same as OP stated above. My 09 SG had a damaged countershaft and failed bearing in the tranny. This started around 500 miles had problems downshiftting.Friend at work just took his 08 Ultra in because bike was making noise think he said it was a failed main bearing.

Here the old story about the recalled bearing problem. Those cheap mexcan parts.
