straight vs helical cut gears

Surgeons, in general can't go poken around on the insides with hands that won't get clean after working on a bike.
And, they can afford to pay someone else to get dirty and, not miss the money.
Hell, if their good enough surgeons they can afford to buy their own dealership and then get their bike fixed for free.

I love the sound of gear whine. I love the sound of a high output engine with timing gears whining away, ( I know I am weird) but it just reminds me that I am on a machine! If I wanted something quiet I would get a horse. But then I would have to clean up piles of crap all the time.

mine don't whine, it's more like a clatter type noise.. since this was my first harley, i wasn't sure what i was hearing and whether it was normal or not. i have a friend whos had harleys for yrs and worked at dealer for a few and said, yep, its normal..
gear noise doesn't bother me as long as its normal and i don't end up with shrapnel in my leg if it flys apart..
a chrysler fwd trans has had gear whine in it forever.. they use a straight cut final drive ring gear and you can really hear them riding along a jersey wall on a coast to light throttle..
