Default spot lights on an electra glide classic

Can anyone tell me the exact procedure for aiming the spot lights. I knwo how to get to the nut and the "special" tool, but where should they be aimed. How far back from a wall should I be and hhow low should they be.

If you go by "the book," the left light shines down straight it front of you. The right light shines down to the right. That sucks.

Line them up so that the left one points to the left ditch, and the right one to the right ditch, and see those road rats waiting to jump out and get you.

then wire the lights so they stay on on both high and low beams.

I took a cheap socket of the right size, used my Dremel tool, ground a slot in it, and went out at night and got my lights lined up right where I wanted them, made sure the left one was down enough to not blind oncoming drivers, and got them all set and locked down. It was perfect for what I wanted.

We had bought a Harley service contract from our dealer. We took out bike in for the next service, and after it was done, the service rep says, "Man, your driving lights were all screwed up, so we alligned them." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After realigning them, I made sure they didn't touch them again on future service visits !

At least it gave me the assurance that they were checking everything !

I wish about a half million Harley riders would adjust their spot lights. Most are to dang bright.

Hmm, and here I just made mine a lot brighter by changing to LEDs. They are aimed correctly, though...
