Default Cleaning the motor

Ok, so Lemon Pledge kicks butt and most of the bike looks great. The fins on the motor are tough.
What are you using? Cloths and fingers get scratched up as well.
Also any spray wax easy waxing solutions recommended. If so do you just coat everything?

Thanks!

This has worked for me in the past, to initially clean up the motor:

Wash the bike, and use a good quality degreaser on motor, then use small strips of 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper to lightly clean up the edges of the fins (I usually have a small bowl with water nearby, with the strips soaking in it). Just use your finger to "trace" the edges of the fins with the sandpaper, you are more polishing the fins than sanding them. Let me stress the fact that I am referring to a black motor, with the exposed silver fins that get stained and dirty, not sanding the wrinkle finish!. I then spray with degreaser again and rinse, when the motor is dry I then follow up with "Hog Spit" or the S100 equivalent product, to leave a sort of wet look on the motor and other wrinkle black areas.

Some people may agree, and some may disagree with this method, but it has always worked for me.

I bought bike brite. Both HD dealers I went to said it was awesome and a spray and shoot.

Well I spray the whole bike down, wheels, shocks, forks, tires, tanks, light, motor, etc and do a mist to get everything off than dry the bike down.

Works great and it does really clean well.

Simple Green works well for me. Spray it on, hose it off. Use it on my car engine too.

I use GUNK foaming engine cleaner as per the destructions, then the Pledge treatment for the rest of the bike.

Crap! So now I got a nicer bike and I have to clean it? I guess I didn't think that through.

+1 for Simple Green. I use one of those bug sprayers with the "T" pump handle and a Wand. As long as I do this once every other month or so it's a rare instance where I have to use any method other than spray, soak, and rince.
