HD Leather Jackets - "Made In...?

I have a vest and pants from the late 90's that are HD and made in the USA. You can't import all the leather for a jacket and then label it Made in the USA. For more on that http://www.ftc.gov/os/1997/12/epsmadeusa.htm

so i'm rehashing an old post...I recently saw a nice Harley leather online for sale, and it said made in USA. I was going to start a post myself to see if this was actually true and not a bootleg jacket, but I figured i'd do a search first since this is what the forum is for. . I guess it is an authentic Harley jacket...

Hein Gericke made HD leather stuff for a while. The earliest I remember is the 80s.
As far as American made stuff, I have older Vanson (now outsourced) and Fox Creek Leather.

Yeah I have a great one for sale in the classifieds. It is a 3XL and I I'm getting real close to an XL. I love the jacket and would swap it in a second for one just like it but smaller. If I don't sell it I might try and see if it can be altered that much. I have had zero interest in it, so either there are no big guys on this site or maybe everything else thinks it is fake.
When I bought it I was thrilled to find the cool 1 logo and made in the USA, but maybe it is a style that is only for me.

Well the one with the Indonesia tag made in 98 would be referring to Indo-China (I think) which would encompass Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam. So if overseas production started in the 80s (as suggested), I am wondering where in the US the 60s and 70 jackets were made.
I do try to avoid china products when ever possible. It ain't easy.
BTW the last t-shirt I bought that was USA made came from Fletchers / Clearwater Fl
I think MoCo pulled the rug from under them. Rt 19 construction didn't help either

I'm happy with my Schott Perfecto, FXRG and Firstgear Kathmandu jackets. I also have a Harley jacket with subtle logos but does not fit me. All have different origins. The Schott is my most versatile and worn jacket. Made in USA to boot.
