Let me understand this, the exhaust pressure spins up a turbine that is joined to a compressor via a common shaft. This compressor increases the amount and pressure of the incoming air flow to the carb/injection system. So what is a turbocharger? Am I missing something here? One problem is the box where the battery would be, would cause a pressure drop, thus removing the benefit of pressure and flow to the carb/inj. system. Yes/no?

Location of the turbo would create a lot of lag, the closer the turbo to the exhaust port the better, this appears to be the opposite?

You get more lag from distance between compressor and TB than exhaust turbine from headers.
But yes, the longer the distance on either, the more likely to have turbo lag. Always made me wonder why people bother with rear-mount kits (mostly Audi's) on a front-engine car. *shrug*

On my Skyline, the turbos are right on the manifolds, and despite having to go through a FMIC to the other side of the car, I have about zero lag as long as I keep RPMs above 2K....which with a RB26dett motor is pretty easy.

Sadly, the wife has veto'd any and all turbo or blower ideas on the bike.

Default turbo charger

You have not missed a thing, yes this is a Variable Vane Turbocharger.
The air to air inter-cooler increases the horsepower potential rather than take away.
The battery is still located in stock position.
u tube..2 wheeler racing turbo harley has a short clip.

So far so good, plan on a road trip early Dec.
2 passes at Bonneville this summer at 160 mph plus at 50% throttle were aborted due to handling issues.. back to san jose in one piece. F
lat tracker bars are installed and road ready after replacing neck bearings and races, they only had 140,000 miles or more on them.
