Question Seat bolt keeps falling out.

While riding with a passenger I noticed the single bolt holding the rider seat was gone.(visable bolt behind seat) Stopped by a HD dealer thinking they might give me a bolt. Bike under warrenty.(I was wrong).

After paying $4.50 for a bolt & putting it on I found it was gone a week later.

wtf...???

If you are one to take your seat of often, go to the hardware store and get a small rubber faucet washer. The rubber kinda "grabs" and helps keep the bolt from vibrating out. If you don't take your seat off much just put a dab of blue Loctite on it and you're set.

1. if you don't have your gremlin bell on the bike, the gremlin will ****** alot of stuff, including these bolts.
2. small drop of loctite may help next time.

Hardware or marine stores. 1/4 20 x 1/2" chrome or stainless <-- dbl check on the size. I got a bag of 10 chromed for 13.00. I keep 2 in my tool bag wrapped up. On the FLHT, the seat strap bolt is the same size... as I believe it is on some other scoots as well.

As stated before. Blue loctite doesn't hurt.

Is the cheap pot metal captive nut insert still in the fender? If so are the threads stripped out? If all is OK loctite or a slightly longer bolt and a self locking nut (nylock nut).

Slip a neoprene O-ring or flat washer on the screw, it acts as a lock washer. It's stopped mine from falling out for the last 60,000 miles. You won't have to worry about Loctite every time you pull the seat off either.
