Dunlop Tire Code MU85 vs MU90 etc.
Does anyone know how to interpret Dunlop's tire sizing into real numbers?
Specifically what does the 85 or 95 represent in a MU85-16 compared to an MU90-16. I'm guessing that its the ratio of section height to width but I can not find any specific answer anywhere to what should be a common question.

The most important thing to look for is, load capacity for touring bikes. Most tires can not handle the weight of a fully loaded touring bike. An over loaded tire could result in a blow out. Be very careful.

the sidewall is 85% of the width
MT90-61
the sidewall is 90% of the width
http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tire...tire.asp?id=86
MT90B16 rating=74H BW part number=4079-91
rim width=3.00 diameter=25.70 width= 5.15 weight load=830 @ 40
MU90B16 rating=78H BW part number4079-95
rim width=3.00 diameter=25.72 width=5.57 weight load=930 @ 40
using the "common" 25.4 mm to one inch
MT = 126/90/16
MU= 141/90/16
If they were "metric" probably be a MT=130/90/16, and the MU would be labled 140/90/16
