Angry Removing cat is easy

Removing the cat from header is easy, Ive read hear many time about how hard it is to get out. Not true. Remove header from bike. I took a straight edge and made marks with awl across sides and top/bottem to help in lining back up for weld. Cut header apart. Make note of thickness of cut, then weld back with the gap measurmnt. Do not cut where heat sheild clamp goes. Cutting and weld there would make problem for heat sheil fitment. Drill hole thru cat against inside pipe wall. Take sawzall and cut around cat against the inside wall of the pipe. Cat then will pull out. Note. Cat material is about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches back from front and back welds on header. Then weld back together.

sure, if you have a sawzall, it's easy.... but when i did it, i didn't have the luxury of a sawzall..... try beating that sumbitch out and then come back on here and say how easy it is

It's easy if you have the tools and know how to weld. I say it's easier to buy a cat free head pipe and bolt it on.

Just to add a word of caution for anyone removing a "cat", make sure you get ALL the material out. Any material left in the pipe can be injested back into the engine!! And that is a BAD thing!!

Got one at my house that just keeps coming back.

Some cats are not so easy to remove.
