Default FOB / key problem

I have an 08 Electra Glide classic that has been hooked to to a tender for the winter. I went out to get on it the other day and my FOB would not over-ride my security system. So...I figure that the battery is dead and go and get my spare. It didn't work either. So...I put a new battery in my FOB. That didn't work either. I can only start it by punching in my security code which is a pain.

Anybody ever experienced this?

Last spring on her first ride of the season, my wife pushes her bike out of the garage and attempts to start it but the security was not turned off with her FOB in her pocket, so she goes and gets the spare FOB and the same thing happens, so I quick ran to 4 stores before I found the battery at Radio Shack, installed the new battery and we were on our way. I'm wondering if the "new" battery was really a good one? Just a thought.

Still sounds like a FOB battery issue? Is the new battery in the FOB correctly? Are the connections clean? This has happened to me before, but a change in the battery solved the problem. Or as Bob mentioned is the new battery any good?

Default battery

I meter all the batteries if they do not perform, to eliminate that possiblity.

The contacts have been cleaned. The battery is in the correct position. I will purchase a new - new battery tonight (even though the battery tester says the battery is good.)

Do you have a volt meter to check the battery or did you use something else?

The 2032 battery is supposed to be three (3) volts. If your spare battery has been sitting for a while it may be below the minimum needed to work with the fob.
