Dip Dot = Slang nickname for a self adhesive backed Dealer Logo medallion, most have the bar and shield, dealer name and location. They most often are used as collectibles or put on your oil dipstick. Large ones are for Softails, small ones were for rubber mounts. I have only seen them at the Harley Factory gift shop but they must have been very popular in the 50's and 60's

A dip dot is the shortened version of dipstick marker dot. It is typically an item the dealers use to tag new bikes that they sell with their dealer information. It is a sticker located on the top of the bikes oil dipstick. Many dealers sell/give these to passing bikers as a memento of their visit to the dealer (much cheaper than a t-shirt).

Go to any dealer, more than likely they will give you one free.

Wink Dip Dots

I must have over 75 of them that I use to collect and afix them to the inside of my saddlebag lids on my 2002 SERK, they were a real PIA to get off when I traded it. I still have most of them and someday I thought I would put them on a backing and make a frame for them. Don't do it much anymore, but they were fun to collect. The last one that I got was from HD Museum last year, it was $5 I think. I have one from the Fairbanks Dealer that I got in 2008 when we rode to the Arctic Circle. I only saved the ones that I actually got from the ride to the dealer. Some folks have them sent and or received from others who bring them from their trips.
