Default Can you change footboards to pegs?

I have a 1200 sportster so I'm used to the pegs but I'm getting a Fatboy
I test drove this and I find my foot kept catching on the footboard and heel shifter when taking off. Is it possible to change footboards to pegs? What do you have to buy?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I think you can, but not positive. But I really think that if you give the footboards a chance, you'd wind up loving them. Much more comfortable on longer rides.

Thanks for the reply Danny. I'm definitely going to give the footboards a try for a month or two but they are so long and not really made for a womans foot and I'd like to know what options there are out there if I don't like them.

You will adjust to the boards. As far as having a "woman's foot", I would think it is an advantage because it is less likely your heel will keep catching the heel shifter putting your foot on and off the boards. That was my biggest adjustment. (size 11). Drove me nuts at first. Putting on HG's floorboard extensions soon and I am sure that will be another adjustment for me.

You could always take the heel shifter off if you don't use it. Might look kinda funny but floorboards are far more comfortable than pegs.

1+ on heel shifter removal. And the replacement cover is only $12.00

I was used to pegs in the past, but I'm liking my floor boards. If it makes a difference, I have short little (size 8) feet, and don't have a heel shifter.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. That was a suggestion from the salesman also that the heel shifter can be removed. I'll try it out with both first for a while and then without the heel shifter and see what works. I think the floorboards would be way more comfy for the long rides we do. I know now on my Sporty with the pegs my lower legs ache after a 12 hr day on the freeway - way too much vibration. I can't wait for May and my Fatboy to arrive.

Yes the boards can be exchanged for pegs. Pretty simple and not very expensive. Harley has the parts. I think you will get used to the boards and the heel shifter and end up leaving them. At least this was my personal experience.
