I think riding in about a foot of snow with a dirt bike with knobby tires might be a lot of fun. Not like riding a Harley on a road with hard packed snow.

Been there! Done that! It's a ride I will never forget and don't care to do again! I was much younger then!

Did it all the time when I was a teenager, surprised I made it to adulthood!

Went for a ride last year, middle of March, cold and cloudy but the roads were clear. Came around a corner and WHAM, right into a white out. scared the hell out of me. If I could not see neither could anyone else. The last thing anyone would expect is a motorcycle in the middle of the road. Man, I will never do that again. (Famous last words ah?)

That's just riding between snowbanks, but on a rainy road.....very big difference from riding ON SNOW or compact ice. Done both (hell, around here if you aren't spending time riding between snowbanks you have a very short riding season)...but getting caught out during a snowstorm with compact snow and ice on the road is an entirely different animal......which will become quite obvious the first time you try to brake, go through a curve, or try to hold the bike up when you stop.
