Default Vest sizing

I have to pick up a vest, there are none locally, and I'm not sure how to size it. I want one to wear over my jacket. My jacket is a HD mens large. Do I order a large vest as well or go with an XL?

Lil Joes recommends a size over since they are sized like a shirt size.
You could ask about their return policy in case you order one too small/large.

Fox Creek Leather sizing is pretty true to size. You can always order a vest with side lacing. That will give you room to go over your winter jacket. Or you can use vest extenders in the winter if you buy a vest that fits perfect.

Most reputable businesses has an exchange program if your vest doesn't fit.

I usually buy a jacket one size larger than normal due to the riding position of arms up, etc. Keeps the back of the jacket down, and the sleeves the proper length. For a patch vest that would go over the jacket, go up another size. Doesn't need to be overly large because like others have said, you can use vest extenders.

I got mine from Fox Creek and wanted it to go over my jacket, just take some measurements with your jacket on, either use their size chart or call them. I called, told them wanted and the measurements over my jacket - they sent out just the right size, fits perfect and I will add...............very nice quality made vest.

one size over t-shirt size usually works. I like vests a little longer too, so I get +2in length.

Ditto: take a chest measurement with your jacket on. Wearing over a large jacket you will need at least an xl. get one with side lacing... the older the vest gets the more they shrink lol

Have to agree with the others. Then again if and when I wear vest it's never closed.

Just curiosity question... Why do you have to pick up a vest?

I guess I'm different because I want the vest to be the exact same size as my jacket. That way I can wear it without the jacket if needed and not have a balloon, and use chain expanders when its over the jacket. But thats just me.

Well, a couple of reasons. First off, for my patches, and secondly, probably most importantly, I don't often ride with my jacket, and I ride a nightster, so I need pockets for wallet, phone and smokes.....lol!
