I have a pretty nice pair of boots I bought at my local HD. After 3 months of riding I gave them a quick kiwi polish and buff. Buddy told me that bikers should not clean their boots, that boots scuffed from the gear shift is cool.

What is the concensus out there?

 

A well polished shoe is a happy shoe. Looks better and lasts longer. I don't have to prove that I shift to anybody. I ride because I like it, I don't have to prove anything to anybody. I enjoy maintaining anything, I am old school, don't like tears or bleach stains on my jeans or whatever.

I guess when you grow up poor, trying to make shabby hand me downs look new, that sticks with you. Taking new things and making them look old, on purpose, No capiche.

Everything should be maintained. This means that your boots should be cleaned and not spit shined. If you shift as much as I do then your boots will have a hole in the top where your shifter rubs.

The most important rule here is not to ask this question without expecting an offensive answer from a dim whit. Oh yea, your c should be an s.

 

What kind of question is this? The OP doesn't want to know if it's good for the leather to preserve the boot, he wants to know if it's "Cool."

I worry more about my boots being waterproof and have good grip. As it gets colder out I want them to be warm as well. I could care less if they are clean but polish helps with waterproof and warmth.
The heel shifter doesn't make a noticeable mark.
