Default Interesting letter from Virginia Tech Trans. Institute

Received a letter today from the VT Transportation Institute wanting to do a study on motorcycle riding. It is one year study in which they would put a camera and sensors on my bike and ask that I ride like I normally do for one year.
They want to get a scientific understanding of how people ride and the environment that they ride in including weather conditions, the roadway, and interactions with other roadway users.
VT says they have been doing this with other aspects of transportation, car and truck.
All info will be private and encrypted and read only by them.
They pay $300 for this study.
They state that the study is being funded by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for the purpose of improving training and the overall safety of motorcycle riders.

Has anyone else received this or heard about it?

I don't know--I tend to equate 'the overall safety of motorcycle riders' to how else they can limit your activities while letting the cages & law makers run ya over

I got one of those too. First, we're not supposed to tell anyone. LOL
I did some searching on their site, and have to pass.
First, you have to take your bike to them to get the stuff attached to your bike, and again to get it taken off.
Second, it looks pretty ugly how they attach it, and your not supposed to tell people what it is.
Third, even though they say they put your bike back to original, I don't want my custom paint screwed with.

Do it if you want, I'm taking a pass on it.

I think I'd be inclined to do a bunch of wheelies and figure 8 burnouts! Just to mess with their heads.
