Default is a 2010 road king police pre wired for cruise

I have a 2010 Road King Police . I know that Road Kings come pre wired for cruise control you just have to switch out the controls and connect the module. However, mine has a pursuit feature on the right control which is my driving lamps. I know this is an easy switch to put it on a switch next to my accessories switch. But my question is, seeing this is not standard, does that mean the wiring for the cruise control will be off to? Salesman at the dealership was half a retard and didnt know. Told me to buy the unit and try!

A friend of mine had to rewire a lot of stuff on a Police bike as they have a special harness according to him. He had to get a wire-harness schematic specificaly for the Police models in-order to do it right.

Although he got it done, and it works real well according to the owner of the bike.

Roger that!

When the PD decommissioned my Defender for auction, they cut/pulled most of the emergency wiring. Then had to go back in & splice & re-wire in the headlights/tail lights to get em to work at all. They even pulled the fuse for the pursuit lights, either not knowing, or not giving a darn, that the brake lights & pursuit lights were on same circuit. I nearly got rear-ended on my first ride after purchase, till I figured that one out.

I had to get an OEM police edition wiring diagram to figure what all was cut and what was remaining. It's a wonder it even ran.

I put cruise on my '09. I changed the handle bars at the same time to apes and standard switches, losing the police controls. You also have to run a couple of wires from the ECM to the switch. Cruisemount makes an wire harness adapter and has directions for this.

This link might help ya. I have a friend that had a 08 police Electra glide. He bought their harness and the rest of the Harley stuff to put cruse on it but totaled the bike before it got installed. If you can use any of it he's willing to sell it.....
