Rode my bike this morning and it started up fine...an hour later tried to start it up and it was dead. never had this problem before. I just picked up this bike last year and it's an 07. I assume this is the original battery. Is it time to replace the battery?
if it is a H-D sealed, AGM battery you should be able to recharge it. Recharge must be done with a trickle charger and for best results charge for 8-10 hours. Check your battery connections while you are at it. I have seen H-D batterys go 7 years with proper care given to them, but 4-5 years it the norm.
At 4 years I usually start shopping. The new belt drives just don't bump-start like the chain drives did.
I replace my battery every 4 years, needed or not. I just replaced it a month ago and noticed a significant increase in cranking power. I only use the HD battery (they had a sale on them recently). I rarely use my battery tender, not really needed down here in Louisiana. When I do use it, it is only until the full charge light comes on. Like the quote above, they don't bump-start easy. If the battery goes dead, you are out of business
