Thanks, Tiretronix. I've heard several good comments on the Deka. I'll check 'em out.

East Penn makes many OEM batteries, i.e. Cat, John Deere, and others. Deka is one of their brands.http://dekacatalog.com I've had good luck with them.

For a good deal on an East Penn battery and quick access (as long as a store is near you) check out Advance Auto and their Magna Power batteries.

Here's some info from Yuasa. Worth a read. Go around their site, almost sounds like they make Harley batteries?

Believe it or not, the best battery I ever got for the B-T was from the dealership...$109 with tax and a sealed unit..It is 4-years old and still works like a one-armed paper hanger. The other sealed units cost at least 20% more. The lead/acid units never got past 2.5-yrs without crapping out even with checking electrolyte levels every month and adding only distilled water!

Yes, we make them and the company has high standards, but just an unknown word of caution, you do pay a little extra for the name.

We don't make the odyssey batteries, but if they live up to the specs they seem good, they are compressing before inserting into the cell which is best for vibration. It also looks alot like our design with a few differences.

I've had really good luck with Harley batteries over the years. Do you know who actually makes them?
Deka makes the batteries, and it is almost the same design as Johnson Controls if your talking about the current line of AGM batteries. It is a good design when you talk about AGM but it does cost more to produce them, especially since you have to compress the plates and seperator (a glass mat), and stuff them in the container. They expand in the individual cell, and the liquid used is fully absorbed, making them last longer and can take a larger load.
