drive belts

Well...it depends on what kind of riding you do, gravel roads, hot and heavy on the throttle, will reduce the life of your belt. If your a little easy on the gas, your belt will last quite a while, possibly 30,000 plus miles. check your belt frequently for rocks, wear, ect. you should get long life out her.

The FXR I used to have was still running the original drive belt - 96K miles, and looked like it could go on for a few more Ks.
Would clean and adjust every tire change.

130K mi. on mine now. Started chirpin' a while ago, but put some HD Polylube on it, and that worked pritty well.
Then I had some other work done that included a new fwd final drive pulley, and the chirp went away! no more Polylube.
Best wishes....Tim(HT)

mines good for about one more season , then I'll be running a chain. broke a belt a long way from home once , that sucked enough to not want a repeat.
keep them adjusted and they can run 100,000 easy enough, but I've seen some pop at 20,000

I was looking things over the other day and noticed that the little adjusters on the rear axle are about maxed out. Has me a bit concerned as the bike only has 8300 miles on it. Will be discussing this with the dealer when I go in for the 10k service.
