I am getting ready to buy one of the acc carbon fiber helmets. what has everyone gone with the dot (wich is way expensive) or the non dot? just wondering, the lady at acc told me that the non dot helmet passes all of the same tests as the dot helmets except 1 test. she says they are very safe even if they are not dot approved? and comments would be great!

 

yea, ny egg shell passed all the test but 1 also!

 

I know that my head is worth the extra $$$ but we dont have a helmet law here in indiana, so i would probably only wear it every once in a while, maybe on longer road trips or out od state rides.

 

If you're going to wear it, wear a DOT or not at all.
I bought their DOT two years ago and it is still great and still worth the $$.

 

I have the non dot polo.
When I was ordering mine I was undecided which one to go with also. After talking to the acc rep. he told me most of the acc employees wore the non dot.
My logic is if he were pushing to sell the product for the money, he would push the dot helment since it is more expensive. Since he did not do that, I went with his recomendation.

I have the DOT and am glad the mushroom head is a thing of the past. Since the DOT is so thin and light why not go with it and have that one extra area of safety. If it were a lot fatter i could see the problem deciding but since it isn't then the only other concern would be money. As for money you're the only one that can decide what your head is worth.

 

I have an ACC half lid DOT. I bought the DOT one because Kali is a mandatory lid state. And because it's a mandatory state, I figure if something happens to me and I don't have a DOT lid on my skull, it's just ONE more reason for the insurance company to deny paying a claim. They take whatever loophole they can and extort it to their own gain.

 

If you're gonna wear one it might as well be DOT. These suckers are so thin it's hard to tell the difference.

i hkave the polo dot, know one knows it non dot, its so light i have sold approx a dozen to people, we spend thousand on our after market parts, but gringe over a few bucks to save our brains, so to me its a no brainer
