High Mileage
Any help would be appreciated, My wife and I are in the market for a Roadking, We found a 2005 roadking, 1450 enigne with 47,000 miles for $11,999.00 completely serviced and Certified by the dealer and it comes with a warranty.
Our concern here is this , Does this bike have to many miles for the age of it.
It's clean starts right up and has no visible signs of being dropped or laid down.
Should I avoid this bike?
We don't know
Please help

I have heard many tale of bikes with substantially more miles than this. That being said, I would keep looking. My guess is you can find soomething about the same vintage and price with a lot less miles. It wouldn't surprise me if you could find the same bike with half the miles.

Great Thank you,
we've been doing a lot of research and we think we found the right one in our price range but we just wanted to be sure on the mileage concern.

My friend says with that kind of mileage it will need a top end rebuild soon. Any thoughts on that??
I really don't want to be wrenching on a bike every weekend we just want to get on a go.

If it was an old Shovel or a Pan it would require a top end, not so with the newer engines. If there is a maintenance log and the bike is sound, there should be no reason to avoid it.
If it only had 1,000 miles on it I would be more concerned, sitting is far worse for any vehicle than having miles put on.

I would consider that barely broken in for a touring bike. My 2010 already has 20K on it an she is just feeling broken in. I worry about bikes with 2the few miles, not bikes with miles and service records.

That's less than 7,000 miles a year average. I bought my '02 Heritage in Jan. 10 and it had 20k on it. Since then I've put more than 10k a year on the clock.
If it checks out otherwise, go for it.

I have 46,000 on my '05 Heritage and it runs like a clock. I did the regular maintenance at suggested mileage.
