Default Reinstalling Stock Speedometer

Tomorrow I am trading my RKC in on a '12 SG. I want to remove the combo speedometer/tac and reinstall the stock speedometer. Is it the same process as installing the combo one? As far as plugging in into the thingy under the left cover and letting it download the mileage and other info before putting it in it's place atop the gas tank?

From what I know about the process - the new speedo will acquire the mileage from the ecm and then after a set amount of miles it marries itself to the bike, meaning the mileage is set and cannot be changed. I would assume the same is true of your stock one so I don't know that it will be able to re-acquire the current mileage but there is one way to find out.
