I've got the Cyclesounds 3", 200w speakers in all chrome, which look great & blend very very well with my bike. You can barely see them on the photo of my bike below, but they are there. (one on each side of the factory forward-mounted tach)

They're top quality & very clean & professional. Speakers that are larger than 3" (from other manufacturers) just look awkward, as do most with the black grills, IMHO. I definately didn't want some ghetto-looking monster system clamped to my bars, and many systems I've seen look plain trashy.
The little mount they supply for your MP3 or phone is very small & discrete, and top quality. I bought a little MP3 & it fits perfectly. The amp mounts down by your oil filter & voltage regulator, and is chrome. Very solid & clean. The wiring was easy to do & looked factory. The whole system looks great.

The sound is great, with or without a windshield (but obviously it's better with a windshield on). I can hear the music clearly up to highway speeds (60-65mph, no problem), but any faster & I feel myself straining to hear it over the wind noise. I've considered adding hard bag lid speakers to suppliment, but I'm not too crazy about the idea of cutting my lids... plus the nice ones are not cheap. Regardless, the sound quality is excellent and it has plenty of volume at normal speeds. I'm very happy with these speakers.

Cycle Sounds is a good company. I stopped in to their factory last year while on a work-trip & purchased the system. A year later, I did have a problem with one of the speakers, and they replaced it for me without question or delay. Good people!

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my decision to go with handlebar speakers. It helps me keep the "convertability" of the RoadKing (windshield or not) while always having the music.

Got a unique cycle sound system on my RK. Had the system for 4 years and on 2the different bikes. Love the sound, good quality speakers, small amp. Would post a pick but busy riding the BRP, just killing time in the rain. Will post when i get home.

off topic, but how do these sound systems sound with loud pipes? One of my concerns was that id spend all the $$$ to have the speakers put in, and it just wont be loud enough to hear it on the highway over road noise and pipes

thanks

Pyle Cycle Series. Great sound, cheap price. Got mine 3 years ago and they still sound good! Can be had for 80 bucks @ amazon.

I had J&M 2008 self powered speakers on my Heritage and I loved them. I could hear them clearly at any speed!

Here is a link to a review I did...

Rodney, I was in a similar situation as you. I ended up going with a speaker bag. I wanted a more low profile look, and wasn't a fan of those speakers clamped to my bars.

Joe, a sponsor on the forums, builds them and sells them here. I am expecting mine within a week or so. You may want to search for his work. Just search "fork radio bag". JRK5892 is Joes username.
