Default Vin# on motor Doesn't Match REGI???????

Ok I called about a bike today. Its a SG that came with a 96 cu.in. Motor. It has been changed to a 110 Motor. The Vin# on the bike doesn't match the motor. He has the stock motor. What kind of a problem can this cause? Im wondering if you got stopped if they would ever check to see if they matched up. I thinking YES!!!!

I have been stopped on a snowmobile and they looked at the Vin.#. Mine was off one number and they made a BIG DEAL about it.

Im just curious...

Pass the deal by if it worries you. I really don't know what could happen but I do know there are other deals to be had

Need to be careful and get the advice of your's state's DMV. I purchased a bike on Ebay and did my home work before paying and the first thing my DMV said was you say you go this bike from up North from John Smith and DMV says the owner is in FL and is Sally May who reported it stolen a year ago. Called the bank up North and ask him them if they had title. Hard to believe but they had made the loan to the John up North and had been trying to get it for 3 months. I could here the moan from the bank manager when I told him what VA DMV said. The seller and I voided the ebay buy..

where did he get the 110 from? he should have some type of mso or receipt or something. i guess you would have to carry both the registration and that documentation with you in case you are stopped.

As long as neither number has been reported stolen and in the database, there's no problem............. In my state anyway. I really don't see why it'd be an issue in any state, but I've been surprised before. Engines in everything get changed all the time. Here, we go to our nearest HP troop headquarters for answers to questions like that.

Im sure you need some kind of paperwork that shows that some guy didn't pull up to a Bar late one night and pull a 110 Motor from guys bike in the parking lot....I GET IT!!!

This guy kinda is like ummmmmmm so will see he is going to get back to me. Are the 2010 110's any good?

Its not like im talking mid 1960's muscle car that has the motor vin.# under the car and you need a floor jack to look at it. Its 25 inches apart in plain VIEW!!!!!!

Found out motor was installed from a H-D Dealer. He has paperwork stating this. I wonder if that is good enough proof ?
