Default Changing out my levers - question

So I bought a set of Kuryakyn trigger levers and when I put the clutch lever in I removed the plastic bushing it came with. Now the clutch has a bit of up and down movement and I'm wondering should I have left that bushing in there or is up and down play normal. I did make sure to put the plastic retaining clip back in. When I changed it out I adjusted the cable nut all the way but still had to pull really hard on the lever to stretch the cable far enough to release the lever, is that normal?

I couldn't get the clamp ring off the brake pin so tomorrow I'm going to the hardware store to buy some new clamps and just rip off the old one lol. I already know about using a shim some hopefully it goes easy.

Here's a pic of the levers so you can see the bushing I'm talking about

Personally I would have left the bushings in. Too much movement will not be good.

Your in a Big Mes a?

Put the bushing back in. Do you have a buddy that can help with the brake, so you don't screw it up?

Took it apart today and put the bushing and that tightened it up. I don't know why I was thinking it was just a "packaging" item in the hole lol.

Did the brake today with the help of a youtube video, went flawless.

The lesson I did learn is that it is totally worth spending $0.80 at Lowes for two new snap rings so you can just rip the old ones off
