Default adjusting clutch cable

i have a 2012 street glide adjusted the clutch at the clutch pack went to adjusting the cable it ran out of threads. I am trying to get the slack in the cable down to a dime width when i pull on the cable at the clutch handle. Am i missing something went ahead and put three threads on it but when you pull on the cable it has about nickel worth of slack. Seems to work ok

when you loosen the clutch cable the ramps are expected to fully retract. I have found they may hang up.
steps. you have put slack in the clutch cable. you loosen the locking nut and proceed to turn the adjusting screw. It bottoms. but I have found that it can bottom anywhere on the ramp, a false bottom. pull in and release clutch handle (few times) and see if adjusting screw will turn in more to find bottom, keep going until it does not change. then do the finishing steps.

You've got to cycle the clutch handle several times after an adjustment.

Put the cable adjustment "halfway on the threads" then adjust the pack.
go back to cable and fine tune it...

Cycling the clutch SHOULD set it properly...

I just loosen the locknut on the clutch pack and turn the allen wrench back and forth several times to get to the "real" bottom. Then 1/2 turn out and lock it.

I don't touch the clutch lever until that clutch pack adjustment is set.

Also, make sure you're adjusting the clutch when bike is cool vs. after riding. After you backed-out the adjuster screw & tightened the jam nut @ clutch - did you squeeze clutch lever (max) three times to set the ball/ramp release? That's probably why your ending slack is a bit off. Make sure you're not slipping while riding. Nothing worse than toasting a clutch & having to ride home in 1st gear, or "power shifting" all the way...
