Default Buell opinions?

I was browsing craigslist today and it doesnt seem hard to find a nice buell for a decent price. Not sure how hard it is to get parts for them anymore though? If i get one it would be a Firebolt XB9 or XB12, probably the 9 since it seems easier to find them in the 3500 dollar range. Seems like a great deal on a good sportbike if you can still get parts for them and all. Im a hardcore harley guy but I'm thinking of getting something sporty that i can do wheelies and tear up corners so the Buell will be the compromise i suppose. Thoughts or opinions on Buell Firebolt?

Wish like hell i could get my hands on an XR1200 but theyre way out of the 3500 dollar range

Can't help you on the model in question, but I had a 2000 Lightning, and never had an issue with parts, etc.

A salesman I know at the HD dealership I deal with had to lay his Buell up for a few months while he waited for a fuel pump.

I have owned several Buells, XB9S, XB12R,XB12S, and even 1125 R (stay away!) the Sportster motor based XB's are awesome, and can still get parts, also stuff through EBR racing is available.BTW Erik Buell is also coming out with some new street bikes, said to cost around 20,000.00

Your profile pic says it all; if you like being an occasional hooligan, then you'll have lots of fun with a Buell.....

Good bike but don't fool yourself, it's no sport bike and any 600 ricer will blow you off the road. That said, the XB1200 is a pretty cool bike for a second toy.

Haha youre absolutely correct, im a hooligan all the time it seems like lol. My concerns are that insurance for a sportbike being ridden by a 21 yr old is gonna be super high, and like i mentioned before finding parts for it if it breaks. But i guess thats not a huge deal. Fact is i really want the XR1200, maybe in another year or two the value will go down even more and i can get one

I believe when Harley and Buell terminated their agreement, Harley agreed to supply Buell parts for 7 years.

I was completely underwhelmed with the engine on the xb9 vs. the 1200cc motor. It's like it always felt like you were going to get to that spot where power started overcoming gravity and lift off, but it just wouldn't make it over the hump.

I'd wait, save, and get what I really wanted (XR1200) and not settle. This is said from the standpoint of having done a lot of 'settling' through the years.
