Default Jiffy Stand Lubeing

How many people disassemble their jiffy stand to lube it? If you do, how often do you do it? Are there any alternatives to disassemblying it to lube?

I think a better alternative to WD is DriSlide. It won't pick up dirt because it's graphite. I've never lubed mine at all...if it starts to squeak, I'll be armed with the DriSlide.

I have wondered exactly how the jiffy stand actually works. I have been too lazy to lay down on the ground and fool with it or maybe its too afraid the bike would fall over on me. In any case is it different than the old kickstand on a bicycle? With weight on it can it swing into the up position?

Default Jiffy stand

Unless you have a degree in mechanical engineering ,
Leave it alone ......
It is a complex mechanism, that use's not only a spring ,and a pivot bolt, but a slot that is activated by gravity ....

If you do not lean the bike into the slot , then you can have
Disasterous results..( i/e bike falls over)
It takea a lot of special trainining , and experiance to deploy correctly.

As far as lube requirements , it take either a Hightech, high sheer lube ,
or none at all......

Above all .......do not attempt any maintenance on the Jiffy stand unless,
1. you are a qualified HD engineer, or been to technical training on jiffy stands .
2. accept the consequence's of jiffy stand failure ..
3. WD-40 wil rot your brain ...
