Default DOT approved ultra slim Outlaw halfy

I don't usually talk about clothing or helmets I buy but I thought this was one time I'd speak up.

I wear a Harley Davidson Half helmet. Damn thing cost an arm and a leg. It gave me total mushroom head. I wore it anyway.

I've been to the point of buying a novelty helm when I ride with my brothers just because I hate the mushroom look but at the same time I want a lid that will save my head from being split open.

I read a bit about the Outlaw Ultra slim lids and thought why not give it a shot?

Well Jesus on a cracker it's bloody fantastic! Waaaay smaller than my HD lid. and at $49 after shipping I couldn't be any happier!

Maybe this is something one of you have been looking for? Maybe not...

Check it out....and don't mind the mess lol lots of bike **** all over the table.

Where did you get yours? I have a carbon fiber, but would rather have black.

Bought mine through www.LEATHERUP.com

Really enjoyed my novelty but always had that feeling I was going to get harassed so I opted to the next best thing...

You really can't tell the difference...

I bought mine at Leatherup.com as well. They have flat black and gloss.

Got mine. Only thing I do not like about them, no vent holes in my carbon fiber Outlaw. Head sweats like crazy here in the FL sun.

Thanks for posting. I'm looking for a new helmet, and I have a standard outlaw DOT helmet but it does the mushroom head thing too. Wish I could see how it compares to the standard outlaw half helmets. I may give this one a try to see how it looks.

Can't find this on the outlaw website. Is this a very new model or old?

I bought the Outlaw "Ultra Low Profile Matte Carbon-Fiber Motorcycle Half Helmet" (AX-30030) last summer and it is truly small and light weight. (I'm wearing it in my signature pic.) After I got it, however, I read on these forums that the helmet, which was touted as the "lightest DOT approved helmet on the market," had been tested and found NOT to comply with the DOT requirements. Shortly after I read that, the helmet was removed from the Outlaw website and also from LeatherUp.com. I can only assume that the DOT has required them to remove it from the market (it has the DOT seal under the clearcoat, so if it isn't DOT they can't just remove the sticker and sell it). I have not been able to find any further confirmation about the DOT status of this helmet.

Here is a thread on the forums where a member posted a photo comparison of the Outlaw to novelty and normal DOT helmets: www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-glide-models/760501-outlaw-ultra-slim-profile-helmet-31.html.
