Just about any section of the PCH is a great ride, and of course any riding during the cold months is great riding!
Sorry to hear that you didn't like the floorboards too much. I know that one thing that bothers me about them is that they are so close into the frame. I'm thinking about getting the extenders from Kuryakyn to push mine out from the frame a bit, for a more relaxed position. That will also help avoid burning my boot heel. Not that I've ever done that on my SG, but it could happen.

I rented an Electra Glide last year (when I rode form L.A. to Vegas), and that's when I first discovered that I don;t like floorboards. You're right about them being in too close (hence the melted boot heel!). I am also used to forward controls, so the boards put me in a seating position I'm not really used to. Now, getting used to the seating position isn't an issue after a few miles anyway, but I do much prefer forward controls. The other thing I'm not fond of is the heel/toe shifter. I find it forces me to put my left foot in an unnatural position for me.
Cheers!

Its good to hear you found some warm weather and got some riding in. Did you walk around out there ina T shirt while the natives were wearing coats and wondering how you could take the terrible Kalifornia cold?

Glad you got some ridin' time in. Be sure to give us Left Coasters a little more heads up next time you're down if you'd like some riding buddies.
As for the heat from under the seat, most rental bikes are bone stock and run hotter than a ***** so no surprises here.
Hang in there and the spring thaw will be there before you know it!

I'll post a warning next time I'm out that way, hehehehe...
One of the things making it extra painful to have to wait for the nice weather is that I can't wait to ride her with the new engine mods!!!
Cheers!

What's really interesting is that when my buddies and I go to Hollywood, where all the freaks and weirdos hang out , my one friend Ronz and I get the most attention because we're wearing kilts. It's friggin' HILARIOUS!! [sm=icon_rofl.gif]
Cheers!
